Display and Performance:

BenQ Zowie XL2546 ReviewThe BenQ Zowie XL2546 comes with a 25-inch 1080p TN panel with a 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and 1000:1 contrast ratio.

Due the limitations of the TN panel, the screen suffers from bad viewing angles, contrast ratio and poor color reproduction.

The brightness of the screen is kind of eye-popping as it is too bright and the images were washed out so that indicates that the screen suffers from bad contrast ratio.

These issues can be improved with calibration and some tweaking, as after calibration the colors came out better and saturated.

But again, the BenQ Zowie XL2546 isn’t really about image quality, but more about a fast and blur free performance.

The BenQ Zowie XL2546 got rid of the AMD Freesync and G-sync and replaced them with its own Dynamic Accuracy technology, which aims to reduce blur and prevent gamers from losing focus.

The Dynamic Accuracy technology is a kind of improved version of the Blur reduction feature, which seemed to have problems in previous models.

The reason why the BenQ Zowie XL2546 doesn’t come with Freesync is that it can’t function with Adaptive Sync. Dynamic Accuracy works all the way up to 240Hz, and it is a built-in feature that is constantly turned on.

The BenQ Zowie XL2546 performed smoothly in games such as FPS, delivering thrilling experience.

Features:

The BenQ Zowie XL2546 comes equipped with DyAc technology, which aims to reduce blur and prevent gamers from losing focus. It also comes with Black Equalizer that increases the visibility in dark scenes without overexposing the bright areas.

In addition, it offers Color Vibrance, which gives the flexibility to get the color performance. With 20 levels of Color Vibrance settings, users can get specific viewing requirements and preferences for all types of gameplay.

Moreover, it has the S-Switch, which is designed for easy access to monitor menu, switch between saved modes, and quick change between connected devices.

To go to preferred display settings with selected models, S-Switch allows users to save and transfer 3 profiles with driverless design within the same model. Also, it has Game Modes for enhanced gaming experience where users can set up their own game modes.

As well as flicker-free technology, this reduces or eliminates screen-tearing to avoid eye strain.

Design and Connectivity:

The BenQ Zowie XL2546 design didn’t change much from the rest of the XL series, except from the two flaps to snap onto the sides of the bezel. The monitor comes with a black and red look and solid stand.

The panel does feature slightly larger bezels and the bezels have been designed to reduce light reflection from the panel, ensuring that absolutely nothing distracts users while gaming.

The stand has a red ring in it so it can be used to tidy cables. The base has a place for the S-Switch this gadget adds the freedom to swap between filters and custom presets or to easily navigate the OSD.

The BenQ Zowie XL2546 comes with ‘Shield’, which is basically a plastic panel that can be screwed into both sides of the display. This panel is mainly used to avoid distractions behind or to the side of your monitor from getting in the way.

But it won’t be much of a use, if users are gaming home or in a private area. The monitor comes with nice ergonomics as it can tilt, swivel, height and pivot adjustments, making it comfortable to get a fix on the screen which has limited viewing angles. It is also VESA compatible.

Regarding connectivity, it has one DVI-DL, two HDMI ports, and DisplayPort 1.2, as well as two USB 3.0 ports on the side. There’s even a handy bar that pops out on the left hand side where headphones can be hung up.

Pros:

  • 240Hz panel
  • DyAc Technology
  • S-Switch Arc
  • Good connectivity

Cons:

  • Poor viewing angles
  • Eye popping brightness
  • Poor contrast ratio

Conclusion:

The BenQ Zowie XL2546 is a good gaming monitor that is responsive and blur-free and it will make gamers love it because of its great performance. The monitor is able to keep motion smooth and features like Black Equalizer help in games that heavily feature darker environments.

The BenQ Zowie XL2546 ensures a fast and responsive gameplay with its 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. The TN panel might be slightly annoying, but with tweaks it will deliver an excellent performance.
