LG 27UD58-B Review – A Budget 4K FreeSync IPS Monitor

LG 27UD58-B is an excellent gaming monitor for PS4 Pro & Xbox One X, that has an ultra-high resolution display and also supports AMD’s FreeSync technology.  This monitor is built with IPS Panel, which delivers vibrant colors and wide viewing angles.

It also presents a solid gaming performance with exclusive features such as Game Mode and Screen Split. It was released in 2017.
The image quality is quite nice.

The IPS Panel also ensures a comfortable viewing experience because of the 178 degree viewing angle so your eyes would be comfortable no matter which angle you’re looking from.

The monitor also has a blue light filter so that no matter how many hours you’re using it, your eyes wouldn’t hurt you. The monitor has a backlight bleeding visible.

The design of the LG 27UD58-B monitor is good.

The monitor looks elegant with its black cabinet and grayish trim, but the Arc stand design is what gives it that modern, stylish and sleek look.

The curved stand not only gives a stylish look, but it also provides height and tilt adjustment. The display area is 85% of the monitor due to the thick black border.

The screen is also coated with matte 3H anti- glare, which removes any issues with reflection. This monitor is available in two different colors: black and white.

If you’re a gamer and interested in a great gaming monitor, then this monitor is just for you.

This monitor is perfect for gaming as it delivers an excellent gaming performance, which is provided by gaming features such as FreeSync, low input lag and good motion so the experience will be more thrilling and fun.

Plus, this monitor unlike any other monitors has an advanced Gaming feature like black stabilizer which enhances dark scenes to be able to spot enemies or objects easier.

It also has Dynamic Action Sync, which minimize input lag for a smooth gaming experience.
But that doesn’t mean that these monitors can only be used by gamers or only for gaming.

This monitor can be used for other purposes; it could be used in the office. Maybe it’s above average for office use, but it can be comfortable for long hours of use and helpful in multitasking due to the screen spilt feature.

It could also be used in multimedia and media creation. It can also be used in viewing movies as it has an amazing 4K screen.

This monitor is not good for HDR Gaming because it doesn’t support HDR and also can’t deliver saturated image. But that’s only common for most monitors as the HDR is only available in high end monitors.

The LG 27UD58-B is considered to be cheap for what it has to offer. It offers such a high features and 4K UHD screen and yet it has a very appealing price. It’s considered to be one of the cheapest 4K gaming monitors available.

It has On Screen Control where you can easily adjust brightness, volume, picture mode and more on your desktop without the need to use the built in buttons. It has AMD’s FreeSync feature technology that removes screen tearing and stuttering on the screen.

It has Screen spilt 2.0 feature that helps with multitasking as it has 14 options that can help view multiple windows at once. It has Game mode feature which you can use to adjust your game conditions and it has 3 modes: 2 first person shooter and 1 real time strategy.

Besides having a Game Mode, it also has an Advanced Gaming features such as Black stabilizer and Dynamic action sync. It has the Super Resolution feature that uses better image processing than the default, which can be useful when the monitor is being used at a lower resolution.

It has On Screen Display feature that through it you can adjust common parameters and you can also use the small joystick at the bottom of the screen to control the OSD menu.

Addition to these entire pervious amazing features the LG 27UD58-B also has Additional Special features such as DDC/CI, HDCP, Reader Mode, Flicker Safe, Six Axis Control, Factory Calibrated, Plug-and-Play, DAS Mode, two HDMI ports and a display port.

Pros:

Cons:

  • The stand doesn’t swivel.
  • Noticeable backlight bleed.
  • Doesn’t have speakers
  • Lacks USB ports.
  • Of course not everything is perfect, but looking at the pros and cons of this monitor; we can say that with such great features and price we can overlook the cons.

Overall, We can say that the LG 27UD58-B is an excellent monitor with amazing features. It offers us a 4K UHD, smooth and fluid performance and a lot of other exclusive features with a very appealing price.
